DAY BY DAY
DAY 1
Start your desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, driving via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass with far-reaching mountain views, to the traditional village of Telouet. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah, before arriving in Ouarzazate — Morocco’s Hollywood, where films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones were shot.
DAY 2
After breakfast, visit the film studios and old Kasbah Taourirt. Depart Ouarzazate crossing the Anti Atlas, continuing through Agdez and the Draa Valley to Kasbah Tamnougalt for lunch. Follow the valley through old Berber villages and palm groves to Zagora.
DAY 3
After breakfast, depart for Tafraoute along tracks into the virgin Sahara, visiting old villages and Berber nomads living in the desert, and exploring plenty of oases along the way.
DAY 4
Drive to Merzouga through Ramlia, discovering the desert region and isolated oases. Arrive in Merzouga — home to the largest dunes in Morocco after Chegaga — and take a camel ride to watch the sunset in the middle of the desert.
DAY 5
After an unforgettable night in the desert, drive to Tinghir via Rissani, origin of the royal Alawi family, visiting the souk and continuing to Erfoud, the city of fossil marble. Reach the Todra Gorges via Tinejdad before arriving in Ouarzazate.
DAY 6
After breakfast, take a different mountain road back through the High Atlas to Marrakech, ending your Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour at your riad or the airport.
